Another chapter has been added to the on-going RP story on AO3. I've been adding some unlikely character mixes just for fun.

I enjoy visiting flea markets and car boot sales, charity shops and antiques/collectibles fairs. One car boot sale in particular is a good resource for vintage finds, but unfortunately it's held on a field and due to our very wet spring the ground is currently too boggy for safety. It can't be helped, but the organisers have been heaped with complaints because of this. What are they supposed to do? Let it go ahead then have a pile of cars and vans get stuck in the mud?

It's a shame that Wilko's has closed. I found this shop to be so handy for practical things like light bulbs and tins of paint. I need some undercoat, so this is going to mean a trek now.  There's a Rightways a half-hour walk away, which is much smaller than Wilko's was though it sells similar things. In theory I could buy the paint there, but carrying a litre tin soon gets heavy and I've done something to one shoulder. Don't ask me what, as I have no idea. There has been no obvious injury. The achy, twingey thing makes sure I remember it's there, though.

Time for a coffee, I think.

We sell at flea markets all the time and it's fun (we buy there too). Always great to find a nice vintage item!

Thank you. If I had a car, I'd sell at car boot sales and similar. I could do with losing some of the stuff I've accumulated over the years, which takes up storage space and is never used. I've tried selling on eBay but by the time eBay and Paypal have taken their cut, it seems hardly worth the effort.

Wilko is such a loss, especially for hardware and home improvement/decorating things like paint and screws. Our Wilko is now a B&M which satisfies some but not all of the missing ranges and we have a Home Bargains but still.
The Range, a drive away, is stocking many Wilko brand items too. Not worth waiting for a lift just for the Wilko stuff but great if going to that particular retail park anyway.

Range is good, but for me it's a train ride away. I didn't know B&M was similar to Wilko's, so I'll have to take a look; there's one local to me but I've never actually been inside that shop.

Wilko's was good for plant pots, too. I sound so domestic! The stealthy creep of middle-age...!

I swear every B&M has different stuff; some the same but a whole range of misc items that are in local store but not the bit further away store (or vice versa) so it's a bit of a gamble!

LOL, I hear you on plant pots. I've not found anywhere so cheap and with such a cool variety of plant pots as Wilko. I got a couple in the closing down sale!

At the closing down sale, I treated myself to a mini greenhouse, the plastic sort for all of £10! The only draw back is that I had to weigh it down by putting bricks on some of the shelves, as otherwise the wind blows it over.
