What is your opinion of The Originals? I'm part way through Season 4, and the writers seem to have exhausted their plot ideas. Hopefully it will liven up soon. Anyway, is it just me or does Elijah look remarkably like the man on the front cover of the old paperback of Rice's Interview?

I'm also nearly finished watching Season 5 of Angel, which has been jollied along by Spike's arrival. That show sadly lacks any sense of humour, which is why, in my opinion, Buffy was much more entertaining. I'll plough on to the end, though, now I've got this far.

A Discovery of Witches was interesting, if a bit over-long. The general plot idea was good, and offered some variation on the usual trope of vampires vs. witches.

The Pembrokeshire Murders was interesting. A three-part mini series about trying to solve a cold case. The one the court convicted of murder at the end... Was that person really the guilty one? I'm not so sure - which was probably the point, actually, as things aren't always as they seem.

I've bought some new plants for my garden, and am happy with the way it's looking right now, with plenty of colours and textures. Last night's thunder storm has freshened up the plants a lot - they're all looking perky and shiny this morning. No wonder, after all that rain!

I'm with you. Angel is a very different kind of show. I think it's centered around nihilism and existentialism, which gives us GREAT lines such as "if nothing we do matters, then what matters is what we do", but that also means it's not fun the way Buffy is. At least, not for me. Buffy does get much darker, but is still centered around friendship and found family. I think Angel has that, but not as deeply.

Hi there

Well I have watched very little of the Originals. It seemed very good though. I saw only very few episodes. I was a real lover of The vampire diaries and watching it, there was this episode that took Klaus to Nola... it branched out onto the Originals. So I got acquainted then.

Well I believe you there because just the fact it was set in Nola speaks volumes to me. And that is why I never watched. Only episodes. It bothered me. Nola is the vampire Chronicles for me. I cannot deal with other vampires there. I know it s weird. Well Lestat hates that too when there are new vampires on his turf, I guess. 😄

I highly recommend the vampire diaries. The actors are really great. The characters are all wonderful in my opinion. I cared pretty much about everyone throughout the seasons.
And the locations are beautiful. For me the locations are truly characters too.
It wouldn't be as good if it were located somewhere else, for me.
I don't know if you know the Gilmore girls ? But it s just like that, the show is great and the location adds to that. The location is just as significant.

Let me know when you start watching it. I hope you ll have a good time. I never thought I would like a show about vampires since I am in love with the vampire chronicles. But the vampire diaries was different enough, it was its own thing, so it was easy to love it for what it was. And truly I love the cast. The characters are awesome.
